Crestmead State School is proud to be a part of the federally funded National School Chaplaincy and Student Welfare Program which places Chaplains in schools to support the wellbeing and spiritual needs of students.

Under this voluntary program, a School Chaplain is based at our school and supports children and families from our school community who wish to utilise this service. As a non-teaching staff member, Crestmead’s Chaplain operates as a support person and provides a listening ear, caring presence and message of hope as students seek to deal with a wide range of issues such as family problems, friendship issues, peer pressure, self-esteem issues and self-control.

The Crestmead State School Chaplaincy role includes extending friendship, listening and supporting when life becomes unsettled for students and assisting children with transitions in life. With parental permission, the Chaplain can also support students with spiritual inquiries and with spiritual care which includes pastoral care to students and their families as well as more general welfare and support programs.

Our Chaplaincy service supports the five day /week Breakfast Club, lunchtime activities, one-to-one appointments with students, classroom social skills and personal development programs. The Chaplain also actively participates in school events such as sports days, camps and interschool sports.

The Chaplain is a valued member of our Crestmead State School community and is appreciated by students, staff and parents. Parents who wish to make an appointment can either complete the parent/caregiver form which is available from the office and lodge it with the school office, or phone the school (07) 3826 0222 and leave their name, the child’s name/class and preferred phone contact. The Chaplain will make contact by phone.
